Earthenware pots known as donabe are an essential cookware piece in Japanese homes. Perfect for cooking and serving a wide variety of stewed dishes. They are a long-lasting and attractive addition to your kitchen.
When using Earthenware Cooking Vessels, you might notice some water seeping trough the pot on the first use. This is a normal feature of the material and meant to prevent cracking while cooking.
To eliminate the problem, we recommend the soaking the pot in water at room temperature for 2-3 hours, then cook rice or rice porridge.
Caution
- Do not heat the pot while empty.
- Do not deep fry
- Avoid using a hard brush to clean. We recommend using a tawashi brush.
- Gas stove is recommended to heat the donabe evenly.
- Please properly dry the outside of the pot before setting on the stove to avoid damage.
