Hakusan Porcelain History
Hakusan Porcelain is made in a small pottery town called Hasami in Nagasaki Prefecture, where craftsmen have been making pottery for the last 400 years. In 1951, the company, Hakusan Ceramics was developed and started manufacturing ceramic ware using modern technology and design. In 1958, Hakusan Ceramics Corporation was established maintaining its status to the present day.
Daily life with Hakusan designs
The initial mottos for Hakusan Ceramics were: "Easy to use for the user" "Convenient in daily living" Hakusan's aim for their products is to allow the user to enjoy using Hakusan Ceramics as part of their everyday lives. This design philosophy has enabled Hakusan Ceramics to win the Good Design Award, the Long Life Award and other recognized achievements.
Masahiro Mori and Hakusan Ceramics
In 1956, the leading product designer, Masahiro Mori, joined Hakusan Ceramics. He spent 20 years as a designer for the company and continued to work for Haksuan as a design consultant until his death in November 2005. One of his recognized masterpieces is the Hakusan G-Type Soy Sauce Pot which won the 1961 Good Design Award.
Besides developing their own designs, Hakusan made various improvements in glazing methods, production technology and factory working environment.
